LWVJFC Membership Appreciation Luncheon

The League of Women Voters Jacksonville First Coast invites you to join us for our Membership Appreciation Luncheon Saturday, October 14, 2023 at noon at the UNF Adam W. Herbert University Center at 12000 Alumni Drive, Room 1027, Jacksonville, FL 32224.  This event is open to League members and members of the public.

 

Debbie Chandler, Co-President, League of Women Voters of Florida will serve as our guest speaker and we will recognize the many contributions of our members without whom we simply could not exist.

 

Our menu selection for the luncheon will consist of:

  • Spinach and Strawberry salad with raspberry vinaigrette
  • Steamed jasmine rice
  • Sauteed vegetable blend
  • Desert:  Cheesecake with blueberries or chocolate layer cake
  • Main dish options of Bean Cassoulet, Apricot and Ginger Salmon or Chicken Piccata

Seating is limited so please register and purchase your ticket ($30) early.

DEBRA “DEBBIE” CHANDLER ESQ., CO-PRESIDENT. LWV FLORIDA

ChandlerMs. Chandler is on the board of the League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County, serving continuously since 2016. She has served as both first and second Vice President during her board tenure. Additionally, she organized and ran “Legislative Previews” and “Legislative Wrap-ups” hosting Palm Beach County’s state legislators in a forum setting. Using her organizational skills, she instituted an Observer Corp whose members attended county commission, city commission, and school board meetings reporting issues to appropriate Issue groups for action. She reformed the Advocacy Committee in PBC and met with legislators at least twice per year during her tenure as chair of that committee.

 

A lawyer by trade, Ms. Chandler’s career included 25 years as an Assistant Public Defender in the 15th Judicial Circuit of Florida (Palm Beach County). Her practice of Criminal law included working in all divisions of court and running the Intake Division as well as several divisions within the Circuit Court. She also taught Criminal and Constitutional law as an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University for more than ten years.

 

As a native of Palm Beach County, she is especially proud to be a member of the 2018 Class of Leadership Palm Beach County. Having a strong commitment to community service, she currently sits on the board of several 501(c)3 organizations including the Exchangettes of Northern Palm Beach County and the Royal Palm Bons Vivants. She is a current member of the ACLU of Palm Beach County Legal Panel reviewing potential Civil Rights litigation. As a graduate of the Florida State University College of Law, Ms. Chandler served for several years on the Board of the Palm Beach County Seminole Boosters.
