 The Voter
October 2026

President’s Message

Your League Needs You (Yes, You!)
Every registered voter, every informed citizen, every candidate forum that fills a room started with someone who said, "Count me in." This election season, we're hoping that someone is you.

Now through October 5: Help Every Eligible Voter Get Registered
The voter registration deadline is Monday, October 5, and the final stretch is when help matters most. Volunteers are needed to staff registration tables, answer questions, and help new voters, and recently moved neighbors make sure their registration is complete and up to date.

October 6 through November 3: Get Out the Vote
Once the deadline passes, our focus shifts to making sure every registered voter is ready for the General Election on Tuesday, November 3. Volunteers are needed to share information about Vote411, early voting and polling places.

No experience? No problem. We'll pair you with a seasoned member, give you everything you need, and make sure you leave knowing you made a real difference. You do not need to be a trained member of the voter registration committee to sign up!

Because an informed, engaged community doesn't happen by chance. It happens because of you.

News & Events

First Wednesday Lunch with the League
Join us for our final virtual event. Amy Keith, Executive Director of CommonCause Florida will join us to speak about their work related to protecting voter rights and election issues.

As part of Common Cause, Amy has fought Florida redistricting, limits on petition gathering, and the new bill for proving citizenship that takes effect January 2027 (if it isn't stopped).

She has 20 years of experience before Common Cause in international crisis response and refugee protection.

Voter Registration News
The LWV is pushing early voting in anticipation of a large turnout.

On September 13th the Jaguars held their 9th annual Naturalization Ceremony during halftime. Other sports teams host naturalization ceremonies, but the Jaguars are the only team that does it during a game. We had a team of volunteers, who braved the heat, and assisted the new U.S. citizens in registering to vote. The pride displayed by the participants is uplifting.

We were at UNF for "Donut Forget to Vote Day.” Thank you Joy Ennis for representing the League. We were also in our usual spot for UNF Market Days on the 30th. Keiser University had a table for Constitution Week. I noticed we had a lot more interest this year versus last year.

On September 24th Victoria Riggins and I represented the LWVJAXFC at a meetup of WTE (Women in Tech and Entrepreneurship) Jacksonville Chapter. They have been partnering with League chapters all over the state. We shared information about Vote411, VoteRiders, our position on Amendment 3, and invited them to join the League.

In partnership with The Melanin Market, we tabled at Jazz on the Avenue. We got to listen to great music, eat some delicious food and engage with attendees about voting. We fielded a lot of questions about Amendment 3.

October is another busy month and we need our voter registration team to volunteer at the events scheduled on our website. Lets make a final push to Election Day!
